Meteorologist Mish Michaels earliest childhood memory is of a tornado ripping through the apartment complex where she lived with her parents. The storm inspired her to study Atmospheric Science at Cornell University which led to a career as a TV forecaster, storm chaser, environmental reporter, and educator in Boston. Mish worked for WHDH and WBZ and hosted a prime-time show on The Weather Channel called Atmospheres. Mish also holds a Master’s in Education degree from Harvard University and has spent time in hundreds of K-12 classrooms teaching students about weather.
Now Mish explores the skies with her daughter, Nalina Ashlee, who attends Hunnewell Elementary in Wellesley, MA. Along with other students, the mother-daughter team led the Ms. G campaign for the Massachusetts’ State Groundhog. During the campaign, Mish welcomed her second daughter and spent Groundhog Day 2014 watching Ms. G’s forecast on TV from a Boston hospital. The newest Ms. G fan, Anaka, arrived at 4:50am, February 3rd, keeping the spotlight on Ms. G every February 2nd!

Lee Miller grew up in Amsterdam, New York and graduated from Cornell University in 1990.
He has written for The Labor Law Journal and UCLA’s Anderson School of Business, along with producing two other books, Welcome to the Wonderful World of Leebo and Godhuli: A Portrait of Mrs. Bina Mukherjee and Her Family. Currently, he pens a bi-monthly blog for the Santa Fe Reporter called “Lee On Literature” which relates literary classics to current events.
Lee spends part of each year gathering stories. Recent trips include China, Thailand, Cambodia, Colombia, and Mexico.
Ms. G., resident groundhog at Stoneymeade Farm, and Ashlee, a first grader at Hunnewell Elementary School in Wellesley, Massachusetts, both share a love of weather, including all kinds of storms. The two meet while both chasing the same thunderstorm and quickly become close friends. Share in their “shadowy” road to fame in this “true” to life story of how Ms. G became the Massachusetts State Groundhog.

Since June 2011, Lee Miller has been writing a bi-monthly blog for the Santa Fe Reporter called “Lee On Literature” which examines current events through the lens of great books. The 650 word column reexamines lost classics that may be out of public consciousness, resurrecting awareness of forgotten, high quality books. The blogs provide distinct insight upon current events via the “human IQ” of established classics.
